Ronald Kompier

For more than 25 years I have been working in different biopharmaceutical companies on a wide range of scientific and technical topics related to the discovery, research, development, registration and production of vaccines and antibodies. Besides process and analytical development I have been responsible for clinical phase programs with among others egg- and cell-based seasonal and adjuvanted pandemic influenza vaccines, adjuvanted rabies vaccines, West Nile vaccines, Ebola vaccines, polio vaccines, RSV vaccines, new administration devices, new cell lines . The scope was both intramuscular, intranasal and intradermal administration.

Since September 1, 2010 I have started the consultancy firm FluConsult. In addition I have established Vaccine Consultantcy in 2014.


  • 1981 – 1989 : Advanced degree in Molecular Sciences at University of Wageningen (The Netherlands) with majors in biochemistry, virology, process engineering and cell biology
  • 1989 – 1990 :  Development of artificial organs as a senior scientist at the Weizmann Institute of Science (Israel)
  • 1990 – 1991 : Development of and scale-up of bioreactor technology as a project manager at Applikon (The Netherlands)
  • 1991 – 2001 : R&D of veterinary vaccines as a Director Product Development at Fort Dodge Animal Health
  • 1991 – 2001 : R&D of egg- and cell-based influenza vaccines as a Director Product Development at Solvay Pharmaceuticals
  • 2001 – 2010 : R&D of egg- and cell-based influenza vaccines and therapeutic monoclonal antibodies against influenza as Program Director influenza at Crucell; Representative for Crucell at the ESWI and at the IVS (IFPMA, WHO)
  • 2010 – present : Managing Director of FluConsult, an independent consultancy firm with focus on, but not limited to the influenza field
  • 2014–present: Managing Director of Vaccine Consultancy, an independent consultancy firm covering vaccines and a wide range of other biologicals
